Why the name 7Days?
7Days was founded in the fall of 2003 as the first a cappella group at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. From the beginning, the name was meant to reflect both intention and imagination.
Co-founder Anthony Lamar Brown II had been searching—alongside co-founder Brienne (Foyt) LaHaye—through dozens of possible names. Then, one night, inspiration came in the form of a vivid dream centered on creation, time, and harmony. The idea of seven days stood out as a powerful symbol: completeness, rhythm, and life unfolding in cycles we all share.
Across cultures and traditions, seven is often understood as a number of wholeness. It mirrors how we organize time, how we experience beginnings and rest, and how creativity fits into the flow of everyday life. For Anthony, music—especially singing together—felt like a natural extension of that idea: something timeless, communal, and deeply human.
When Anthony shared the name 7 Days with Brienne, there was no hesitation. It felt right immediately—simple, strong, and enduring.
For Anthony, the name came through a dream he understands as a gift, an image of creation, time, and harmony that felt deeply connected to music and singing together. While that faith shapes his understanding of the name, 7Days has always been a space where people of many backgrounds and beliefs come together. The group’s story begins in one person’s faith, but it continues through the shared voices, creativity, and relationships of everyone who has been part of it over the years.
